Make no mistake, in order to succeed, our businesses in Minneapolis and across the County must rely on our law enforcement partners in maintaining a safe community. We need to fight violent crime, so we need to re-elect Sheriff Rich Stanek.
Recently we have had an alarming rash of gun violence in Downtown. Sheriff Stanek worked with the Minneapolis Police Department to add deputies patrolling in high crime areas. With his leadership as Sheriff, violent crime is down 36 percent in our County.
In 2007, and every year since, Sheriff Stanek also has pushed hard to secure funding and organize Safezones. In the summer months, Deputies walk the Nicollet Mall foot-beats, connecting with shoppers, visitors and stopping in to meet with business owners and employees. They provide a highly visible and physical deterrent to crime.
The Downtown Council and business community are very grateful for the quality of the service the Sheriff’s Office provides under the leadership of Rich Stanek. Please join us in voting for Sheriff Rich Stanek on Nov. 4.
