Peace Coffee plans to open its first downtown location in the Capella Tower next week. The Minneapolis-based organic, fair-trade coffee company is known for its wholesale selections and sustainable practices.
The shop, in a coffee counter style, is on the first floor of the newly renovated downtown building. Mel Meegan, Peace Coffee’s director of marketing, said the location doesn’t have a hard open date as they wait to complete the health inspection process.
The shop will feature local baked goods from Patisserie 46 and Sift, along with healthy juices, seasonal beverages and local Autumnwood Farm milk. Meegan said the counter’s baristas will also be using the only Alpha Dominche Steampunk 2.1 brewer in the state.
The shop, one of just a few Peace Coffee retail locations, will house seven new employees. Minneapolis St. Paul Magazine reported there are rumors of more Peace Coffee locations coming downtown. The company declined to comment.
The counter will be open 6 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday to fit business hours. About 4,000 people work in the tower at 225 S. Sixth St.
