An explosion Wednesday at a metal fabrication facility in Marcy-Holmes left two employees with significant injuries.
The blast happened in the afternoon at Metal-Matic at 629 2nd St. SE, according to the Minneapolis Fire Department.
Crews responded at 2:45 p.m. and, upon arrival, found two employees with injuries from an explosion from one of the facility’s dust collectors. The two were transported to an area hospital. The explosion caused a small fire that crews extinguished.
The blast was the result of a pipe welding torch igniting a mixture of aluminum dust and water, Assistant Fire Chief Bryan Tyner said Thursday in a statement.
