I would like to congratulate the Northeast Minneapolis Lions Club on their 75th anniversary of active support and benevolence in the community.
Seventy-five years is a milestone anniversary for any organization.
The Northeast Lions Club members are hands-on volunteers and active fund-raisers for many nonprofits in the area. Lions Club members are service-minded men and women who are interested in improving their communities, volunteering to help as participants and contributors to many local projects.
The members volunteer their time and talent regularly by delivering meals at Eastside Meals on Wheels, holding Casino Night and other activities at Catholic Eldercare, collecting canned goods for the East Side Neighborhood Service Food Shelf, and ringing bells for the Salvation Army to name just a few.
They raise funds by holding annual golf and bowling tournaments, hosting the Pot O’Gold Dinner and Raffle, selling mixed nuts during the Holiday season and managing multiple Charitable Gambling sites year round. They donate money to many local nonprofits in the area and have adopted countless projects, including: building the Columbia Park Pavilion; repairing cabins at Camp Bovey; donating equipment to firefighters and police; endowing a NE Minneapolis scholarship foundation; and donating to families suffering loss or hardship.
The Northeast Lions Club has a proud history of service, philanthropy, and altruism. Lions help wherever, whenever and however they can. An organization active for so many years serves as testament to the value of their presence in the community. I can easily speak for many nonprofit organizations in the area when I say Congratulations and thank you to the Northeast Lions Club on 75 years of success!
