Hennepin County needs a leader to expand on the legacy that departing Commissioner Gail Dorfman has established, particularly in the fight to end homelessness; expanding regional transit and connectivity; and building healthy communities. As a Minneapolis native and current resident of the Whittier Neighborhood I know that Anne Mavity has the vision, energy and a track record of results to lead Hennepin County as the next Commissioner from District 3.
We are blessed to have broad agreement among the major candidates over the issues that Hennepin County can, and must, address in the coming years. In my mind, what makes Anne the best candidate is that she has already been leading the way on making real change on these issues for her entire life. Talking the talk and walking the walk. Her collaborative leadership has led to: the creation of over a thousand units of affordable and supportive housing as a professional, pro-democracy initiatives in post Communist Russia, and the adoption of city-wide curbside organic recycling and pro walking/biking infrastructure policies as a St. Louis Park City Councilmember.
I believe that past actions are the best predictors of the future. As our next County Commissioner in District 3, I cannot wait for Anne to lead the way towards a more equitable, connected and sustainable Hennepin County. Please join me in voting for Anne Mavity on April 29.
