Rough light rail arrest 'unacceptable,' NAACP says

The NAACP Minneapolis chapter announced a set of demands Thursday in response to a video showing Draon Armstrong thrown to the ground during his arrest by the Metro Transit police after failing to pay his light rail fare when riding the Green Line.

Nekima Levy-Pounds, president of the NAACP Minneapolis, said the officer’s overuse of force against Armstrong was unacceptable. Levy-Pounds demanded the Metropolitan Council “conduct a thorough, independent investigation into this matter,” as well as “reform the policing practices and policies that would allow the type of abuse.”
