CENTRAL BUSINESS DISTRICT — The Nina Bliese Gallery was set to close Dec. 21 after operating for six years at 225 S. Sixth St.

The modern expressionist gallery showcased 15-20 artists, and worked with 30-35 artists during its run.

“It was just time to move on,” said Wendy Frieze, assistant gallery director. “We felt we had done well for our artists, but it was time for us to go and do some other things.”

Frieze and gallery owner Nina Bliese will still represent the artists. Frieze will handle the artists with an architecture/design tilt and Bliese will work with the more spiritual artists. Bliese will also be working with the Lutheran Art Council.

“We’re very sad about it,” said Frieze. “There’s been a gallery in the space for 21 years.”
