The July 9 meeting of the Downtown Minneapolis Neighborhood Association unanimously supported a one-year moratorium that the City Council has placed on Downtown East and North Loop. The moratorium is in place while the city completes master planning for those areas.

A second DMNA resolution asked that Block E developer McCaffrey Companies complete the project as originally promised. City officials learned last week that changes -- including the elimination of an outdoor escalator, a different design of bus shelters, different signage and limited public restrooms -- had been unilaterally made by McCaffrey. The board gave these resolutions to City Councilmember Paul Zerby (2nd Ward), who attended the meeting.
