The Community Relations Ambassadors, an arm of the Aquatennial and Downtown Council, will host "River Drive: A Celebration of Life in the Community," on Saturday June 1, 9 a.m-3 p.m., 1201 W. River Pkwy.
The event includes free food, a kid's carnival, appearances by a police K-9 unit and firetruck, but is primarily organized as a blood drive benefiting the American Red Cross. Following 9-11, blood donations and supplies have dropped dramatically. Several community groups will also have booths at the event.
