Residents of the Warehouse District will soon get a new neighbor -- emphasis on new. Unlike many of the rehabbed warehouses that are now homes, The Reserve is a completely new condominium building slated for 1st Street North and 4th Avenue.

"It's a brand new building that looks like it will fit into the neighborhood," said Sandi Lent, a partner with Garrison Partners, the marketing company for the building's developer. "It has a very rich, upscale, vintage faade."

Developed by Chicago-based BEJCO Development Corp., The Reserve, 360 1st Ave. N., will be a ten-story building with approximately 134 units.

Groundbreaking is expected this summer, and construction is expected to last two years. Although the doors won't open until at least 2004, an on-site sales center has already opened at the corner of 1st Street North and 4th Avenue. Sale prices range from $262,000 to $1.5 million for the penthouse.

The condominiums range from 893 to 4,000 square feet with nearly10-foot-high ceilings. Buyers can personalize their condo at an on-site design center.

"There will be displays of all the cabinetry samples, cabinets, flooring, counters, faucets and sinks," Lent said. "We're going to have some really nice selections."
