Regardless of income or academic ability, anyone can go to college at the People's University.

The Friends of the Minneapolis Public Library are offering free three-week courses taught by college professors in Minneapolis community libraries. Classes will meet three times and, unlike other colleges, there will be no tests.

Class offerings include "In The Heart of the Beat: The Poetry of Rap," "The Minneapolis Voice: Finding Your Voice for Beginning Writers," "Paris 1900: An Artistic Journey," and "Astronomy X: A Beginner\'s Guide to What\'s Out There."

The People\'s University is free and open to anyone, but class size is limited. To register, call 630-6174, e-mail friends@mplib.org or visit their Web site at www.friendsofmpl.org.
