After a four-and-a-half-year run, Aquavit Restaurant has closed. The Swedish restaurant located in the IDS Center's Crystal Court, 710 Marquette Ave., was unable to recover after the terror attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, sent fewer business travelers their way.
"I think that in the last two years we lost quite a bit of business, especially when it comes to the business traveler and out-of-town visitor -- which was a big portion of our business," Aquavit owner Hakan Swahn said. "Business really hasn't come back. I don't see a whole lot of traffic in that category for us in Minneapolis. That obviously was a tough situation."
Swahn said his other Aquavit Restaurant, located in Manhattan, is doing "fabulous." He said he has no plans to open another restaurant in Minneapolis.
