The Minnesota Elementary School Principals' Association honored Loring Park-area principal Karen Pederson, with a 2003 Minneapolis Division Leadership Achievement Award.
Pederson, principal of Emerson Spanish Immersion School, 1421 Spruce Place, has a reputation among her peers for being a hardworking, motivating and inspirational principal. Pederson, who has been a principal for 11 years, is fluent in Spanish and offers frequent presentations on language immersion for state and national education conferences.
Eleven other Minnesota principals were honored with a 2003 division leadership award Feb. 13.
