Comic Louie Anderson, a Minneapolis native, told KQRS morning show host Tom Barnard Sept. 20 about opening a comedy club Downtown. Anderson said he's been negotiating for two years for an undisclosed property, but that he's having second thoughts about opening a club here.

Anderson said a recent trip Downtown made him feel unsafe. He said he wonders if a comedy club could be successful with "a two-stab minimum." Anderson said he was assured by the property's current owners that the police presence Downtown will soon be increased, but he said there should be cops on horses there now to make residents and visitors feel safe at night.
