Celebrate local Latino culture Saturday, Sept. 24 at Latino Fest 2005, noon-6 p.m. at Minneapolis Community and Technical College (MCTC), 1501 Hennepin Ave. S.
Admission and parking in the MCTC ramp are free for the "family- focused event," featuring Latino art, music, and 100 Latino businesses and 30 nonprofit organizations, as well as campus tours and information about MCTC career programs. Kids' activities include crafts, games, music and a moonwalk, with interactive games and sports for teens and young adults and appearances by Minnesota sports figures. Attendees may register to win a free MCTC scholarship.

Disaster relief benefit
The music of Butch Thompson, Pop Wagner and many others will take part in a benefit concert to raise funds for Gulf Disaster Relief and the Peace Foundation of Minneapolis -- an organization created to reduce violence in Minneapolis communities --Wednesday, Sept. 21 at Hennepin Avenue Methodist Church, 511 Groveland, near Loring Park, at 7 p.m.
