Nicollet Mall

The Walgreens at 413 Nicollet Mall will close this October. Walgreens Corporate Spokesperson Carol Hively said that business has steadily declined at the store, which has been on the mall since 1987.

Hively said customers who shop and have prescriptions filled at the store will be directed to the smaller Walgreens at 815 Nicollet Mall. The 413 Nicollet store is 10,870 square feet, compared to 7,000 square feet at the 815 Nicollet Mall site. Although inventory varies slightly between the two stores, both fill prescriptions.

Affected employees will be offered positions at other Walgreens stores, Hively said.

India Bazaar closed next door, under the same address, earlier this spring.

No time to cook? Fear not; Sociale Take Home Gourmet has you covered. The kitchen opened Monday, June 27 on the skyway level in the Highland Bank Court building, 811 LaSalle Ave.

Lisa Hake and husband Jason started the Eagan-based business because "we never had enough time with our kids," she said. "We thought, 'There must be other people in this situation.'"

The Downtown location is the couple's third; others are open in Uptown and Eagan.

Hake said Sociale chefs assemble dinner entrees, which are frozen and may be preordered for later cooking. The rotating monthly menu will feature items from a list of 14 entrees. Favorites such as Greek Chicken and Cuban Pork Roast will always be available, said Hake.

Although customers can stop by for last-minute dinner solutions, Hake said it is cheaper to preorder multiple meals to store in the freezer, then thaw during the day and pop in the oven at night.

Sociale also offers side dishes, specialty sauces, salsas and mixes, as well as gourmet store kitchen gadgets and giftware such as a "garlic twist" for mincing garlic.

Watch for lunchtime and rush hour skyway samples.
