It's time to take out the trash. On Saturday, June 11, Elliot Park residents can clean out their junk and clean up the streets during the neighborhood's annual Clean Sweep.
Volunteers are invited to help with trash collection and street pickup 9 a.m.-noon. The cleanup will begin and end at Franklin Steele Square Park, East 16th Street & Portland Avenue. Teen Challenge will provide food either before or after the meeting.
In addition to the cleanup, a city-provided trash truck will make the rounds for curbside collections throughout the neighborhood - so if you don't want something, put it on the curb. Residents may receive vouchers for larger items such as appliances and hazardous materials, such as batteries, that cannot be thrown in a landfill.
Call Elliot Park Neighborhood, Inc. at 335-5846 for more information about volunteering or about what can or can't be picked up.
