The superstructure of Central Lutheran Church's new 139-foot bell tower has finally reached its peak, said church member Rebecca Larsen. The occasion was marked April 5.
"The tower was part of the original 1929 design but, because of the Depression, it never got built," she said. "Now we have a donor, and it is being built."
The tower eventually will have a 45-bell carillon, Larsen said. The bells are expected to arrive from France in July. The tower itself should be completed by Christmas. A dedication is planned for April 9, 2006.
