Just after sunset on Saturday, March 19, Ravindra A. Persaud was shot multiple times and killed while sitting in his van in the parking lot of Loring Way condominiums, 210 W. Grant St.

The murder was the first in Downtown and the 1st Precinct this year, but the second in two months within a mile of the area.

On Feb. 4, 22-year-old Michael Harmon was found shot dead in his car on the 1800 block of Stevens Avenue. An arrest was made in that case.

According to police, the 28-year-old Persaud, a resident of Northeast Minneapolis, was sitting in his car when a man got out of another car and approached Persaud's. The man fired several shots, then got in his car and drove away.

Officers found Persaud dead in the van, said Officer Ron Reier, public information officer for the Minneapolis Police Department.

Reier said no one is yet in custody but police have leads in the case and are questioning witnesses.
