Several afternoon pedestrians were the victims of an apparent BB-gun sniper over a two-day period in late February, according to the Minneapolis Police Department. Pellets struck four victims in three different incidents near South 15th Street & Portland Avenue from 2:30 to 5 p.m.
One victim "felt sharp pains in his left hip area," according to a crime report. After noticing a hole in his pants, the victim went to the hospital, whereupon doctors discovered a pellet lodged in his left hip. Crime reports did not indicate that other victims were injured, although one reported hearing yelling and then a shot.
Downtown Crime-Prevention Specialist Luther Krueger said that the shootings were isolated incidents, with no more shootings reported since. No arrests have been made in the cases, and there are no suspects.
Anyone with information about the shootings should call the Minneapolis Police Department's 1st Precinct at 673-5701.
