A reminder: "Lunchtime Tourist" Linda Koutsky is on hiatus until April 11. She is finishing a lavishly illustrated "Minnesota Vacation Days" for the Minnesota Historical Society Press. The book will cover 150 years of steamboat travel, historic lodges, tourist courts and the state's abundant boating, campaign and fishing-lure manufacturers.
However, before she took her break, Linda asked readers to send her the best possible argument to watch Paris Hilton's TrashTV show, "The Simple Life." Here's her note about the winner:
"As expected, no one convinced me 'The Simple Life' is worthy of airtime. But David Haas of Plymouth wins the Paris Hilton Collection earrings for his comments that the show: it proves money cannot buy brains and it also justifies Bill Gates's decision to insist his offspring get virtually no inheritance."
Linda still checks her e-mail, we think. Feel free to send comments or nominations for new Downtown subjects to email@example.com.
