There are two 2005 Toyota Priuses on their way to the Loring Municipal ramp at Grant Street & Nicollet Avenue, and they are looking for drivers.

The hybrid vehicles, part of the HOURCAR car-sharing program, will arrive in May. Members rent the cars by the hour, which includes insurance. This may help some people forestall buying cars yet have one available when they need it. Last week, program officials announced the official "check out" and "check in" point is at the Loring ramp. There are also hubs in Uptown and St. Paul.

Registration for the program will begin in April; see Registration and eventual car reservations will be done primarily through the Web site, and online registrants will receive regular email updates about the program.
