Key's Caf, 1007 Nicollet Mall, has signed an 11-year lease agreement to move into the Foshay Tower space recently vacated by Red Restaurant, according to Key's manager Tom Schlarbaum.

The targeted move date is June 1, in anticipation of construction of "The Nicollet," a planned 50-story, 360-unit residential development at South 10th Street & Nicollet Mall. Site plans and variances for the project were approved at a City Planning Commission meeting earlier this month; construction could begin as early as August or September.

Other business affected by the development, such as Let It Be Records, 1001 Nicollet Mall, and Sawatdee, 1005 Nicollet Mall, have not yet solidified relocation plans.

Schlarbaum said that Key's might make some changes in the larger Foshay space, such as serving beer and wine and expanding their hours and dinner menu. The restaurant has been in its current location since 1992.
