Think of it as a race for the rest of us.
The Twin Cities Marathon announced Jan. 27 that it would add a new Downtown event to 2005 slate: a 1-mile race.
For non-runners, that's about 25 miles shorter than a marathon - a whopping 1.6K. The April 28 race will start at Nicollet Mall & 3rd Street, go across the Hennepin Avenue Bridge, and finish at the 222 Event Center near Surdyk's and Keegan's Pub on the East Bank.
Race organizers say they are reviving a similar event held in the 1980s. Registration begins March 1 at www.twincitiesmarathon.org. The cost is $15 and includes a race t-shirt.
