The Downtown Action Network (DAN), a Downtown Council volunteer committee, is looking to bolster membership by targeting Downtown residents and younger workers.

DAN Chair Andrea Christensen, a leasing consultant with Colliers Turley Martin Tucker, said she'd like to see membership grow from 120 members to 500.

Downtown Action Network members help coordinate events such as the TCF Holidazzle Parade, the Aquatennial Hennepin Avenue Block Party, the "Alive after Five," summer concert series in Peavey Plaza at 11th Street & Nicollet Mall and the James Page Blubber Run, among other things.

DAN also holds monthly meetings the second Thursday of the month at the Downtown Council offices, 81 S. 10th St. Downtown leaders address the group on a range of current events.

"The overall goal is to promote Downtown in whatever way we can," Christensen said. "We want to really increase our networking opportunities."

Christensen said the volunteer committee is looking at several activities to draw more participation, including 10-minute speed networking events. DAN is also planning on meeting with Downtown neighborhood groups and discussing fund-raising campaigns.
