Vandals have tagged several properties along Nicollet Mall - marking buildings and parking ramps with red graffiti.

Luther Krueger, a civilian crime-prevention specialist for Downtown's 1st Precinct, has urged residents and workers to report the vandalism via city's Graffiti Hotline at 673-2990 or at

Those who witness tagging are asked to call 911.

"Ideally, if you could take a digital photo or Polaroid of the damage and clean/cover [it] up as quickly as possible, this sends the message to taggers that your building won't serve as their canvas for long," Krueger wrote an e-mail to Downtown residents and business owners.

Nicollet Mall Volunteer Coordinator Brian Fesler said the Young Quinlan building, 81 S. 9th St., was tagged with red graffiti twice recently, as was the Midwest Plaza Building, 801 Nicollet Mall, and the Orchestra Hall parking ramp, 1111 Marquette Ave.
