The 26th annual fundraising event, Climb for a Cure, will be held at the IDS Center on Saturday, Feb. 10 to benefit the Minnesota Chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis (CF) Foundation.

Self-timed races start at 8:30 a.m. Participants will climb the IDS Center’s 50 flights of stairs — 1,280 steps. Climbers must have pledges for $1 per floor at registration.

Event partners include Briggs and Morgan, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Central Parking Systems, The Marquette Hotel and the IDS Center.

Cystic Fibrosis is a disease that affects about 30,000 children and young adults across the country. The disease causes the body to produce thick secretions that clog airways that can cause life-threatening lung infections.

During the 2006 fundraiser, participants raised more than $110,000.

At the end of the race, there will be a climber celebration party at Windows on Minnesota. The crew from KDWB’s The Morning Show will host the celebration, which will feature music and games.
