Crews will break ground in October on 720 Lofts -- a seven-story condo project in the North Loop at North 4th Street & 7th Avenue.

The 99-unit development by Northeast-based Schafer Richardson will go up next to the developer's 710 Lofts, a four-story industrial-style loft building expected to open in April 2005.

The developer is also behind North Loop's Basset Creek lofts, 901 North 3rd Street. The building features 32 lofts in the building's fourth and fifth floors.

Units in the 720 Lofts will range from 907 square feet to more than 2,500 square feet. Prices will range from the upper $100,000s to $600,000, according to the project's Web site, One-, two- and three-bedroom units will be available.

The building is expected to be ready for residents late 2005.

The units will feature private balconies or patios and for 7th-floor residents, rooftop terraces.

There also plans for a 730 Lofts building in coming months, said David Frank, a Schafer Richardson project manager. The details on the project haven't been finalized.

Schafer Richardson, 615 1st Ave. NE, is also the developer behind the proposed Pillsbury "A" Mill redevelopment -- a major condo project planned for the East Bank on Main Street Southeast between 3rd and 6th avenues.

More than 1,000 units are planned for the site, which is undergoing environmental review. Construction on that project is expected to start early 2005.

The North Loop has become on of the fastest-growing neighborhoods Downtown, with more than 2,500 housing units completed and under construction, according to a Schafer Richardson report.
