A Nicollet Mall Advisory Board committee is looking for volunteer judges to participate in the 2004 Nicollet Mall beauty contest.

The judges critique the Mall's blocks from 3rd Street South to Grant Street on Loring Park's southern point. The blocks are judged on landscaping, maintenance and cooperation among property owners on beautification efforts.

In 2003, judges selected the Nicollet Mall block between 12th and 13th streets as the prettiest. The block is home to the Westminster Presbyterian Church, 1200 Marquette Ave.

The New Central Library project, under construction between 3rd and 4th streets, dominates the block that ranked last in 2003.

Judges can keep their own schedule but must report to Brian Fesler, a volunteer coordinator for Nicollet Mall Advisory Board's maintenance subcommittee, by Thursday, July 1.

For more information or to participate, contact Fesler at 338-5111 or bftwincities@yahoo.com.
