The city's Planning Commission has approved a developer's request to increase a proposed 317 Groveland Ave. condominium from six stories to seven stories.
The Planning Commission signed off June 7 on St. Louis Park-based Steven Scott Management, Inc.'s request to move forward on a 135-unit condo tower called The Groveland.
In May, the area's neighborhood group, Citizens for a Loring Park Community (CLPC), recommended the city approve the additional story.
The Groveland will rise near the Hennepin Avenue United Methodist Church. The developer has a purchase agreement on the church's parking lot where the condos will be built.
Edina Realty has begun taking registrations on the condos, which are priced between $190,000 and $600,000, the developer told CLPC earlier this year.
The condominium complex will feature a brick, stone and stucco faade. Near the front atrium, The Groveland will have an ornamental fountain and a reflecting pool.
Under terms of the conditional-use permit approved by the Planning Commission, all site improvements must be complete by June 7, 2005, or the permit will be revoked.
