The 11th Annual Mississippi Corridor Neighborhood Coalition (MCNC) River cleanup will be held Saturday, May 15 from 9 a.m. to noon.
Pick-up will occur throughout Downtown, going upriver to the North Mississippi
Regional Park and downriver to the Cedar-Riverside area.
The event -- designed to clean the riverbed and raise awareness of the river's importance and the need to protect it -- will be headquartered at Boom Island Park, 700 Sibley St. NE. Volunteers will weigh the trash they collected at noon and can also peruse environmental displays and get door prizes. Local businesses will provide a free lunch.
The event is co-sponsored by the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board, the Mississippi Watershed Management Organization and Hennepin County. For more information or to make a donation, contact Randy Kouri at 331-4738.
