The Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board has announced the 15 sites that will get a once-over cleaning during this year's Earth Day activities.

The sites in and near Downtown are:

  • Mississippi River at Boom Island Park, Plymouth Avenue North and the east riverbank;

  • The Misssissippi River at Franklin Avenue on the east side of the bridge;

  • Cedar Lake at the parking lot at West 25th Street and Cedar Lake Parkway; and

  • Bassett's Creek: at J.D. Rivers picnic area, Glenwood and Washburn avenues.

    Volunteers of all ages should show up at any of the sites between 9:30 a.m. and 10 a.m. on April 17 to register and pick up supplies. A celebration with refreshments, music and interactive educational activities from 11 a.m. to noon follows cleanup at eight of the 15 sites. Groups of 15 or more can sign up for special sites by calling and leaving a message at 313-7722.
