Geographer/city leader to give riverfront talk Thursday

Judith Martin, geography professor and director of the Urban Studies Program at the University of Minnesota is giving a free public talk on the issues, polices and architecture that shaped the Minneapolis riverfront during the last 25 years.

The lecture is Thursday, April 8, 7 p.m. at the Army Corps of Engineers Observation Deck, 1 Portland Place, overlooking St. Anthony Falls, the Stone Arch Bridge, Mill Ruins Park and the St. Anthony Falls Lock and Dam.

Martin is also chair of the Minneapolis Planning Commission, a body that does long-range planning for the city and is responsible for advising the City Council on development, zoning and capital improvements.
