To update residents on the upcoming LaSalle Avenue reconstruction, the city is hosting a public meeting Wednesday, March 24, 6:30-7:30 p.m., at Emerson School, 1421 Spruce Place.

The work will extend from West Grant Street in Loring Park to Franklin Avenue. It is expected to start in June and extend to Thanksgiving, closing the road to through traffic.

Department of Public Works staff will discuss the design and estimated schedule, and answer questions.

The city proposes eliminating an afternoon rush-hour driving lane that is otherwise west-side-of-the-street parking. (It would become a permanent parking lane, as on the street's east side.)

LaSalle starts at 8th, becomes Blaisdell Avenue once it crosses Franklin and ends at West 40th Street. The project will include rebuilding sidewalks, curbs, gutters, driveway aprons and the street itself.
