Body Mind Life Expo this weekend

The 4th annual Mid-America Body Mind Life Expo will be held in the main ballroom of the Minneapolis Convention Center Friday, March 26 and Saturday, March 27.

Organizers planned for 160 exhibitors, featuring a range of products designed to make convention goers more balanced, relaxed and healthy. Personal coaches, wellness experts, fashion consultants, massage therapists, motivational trainers, environmental advocates and natural health practitioners, among others, will be on hand to promote their services. Besides informational displays, there will be shows on Feng Shui gardening, spring fashion trends, detoxification plans to improve health, among other topics.

The expo will also feature music by the Salvation Army Praise Band and Paul Richardson and the Harbor Light Choir. David Young, known for his ability to play two recorders simultaneously, will also perform. Hours are 11 a.m.-10 p.m., Friday; and 9 a.m.-7 p.m., Saturday.

See the Marshall Field's Garden Show...while it's still Marshall Field's

One of the traditions that has attached Downtowners to their Dayton's-cum-Marshall-Field's is the spring flower show, which opens for the 41st time and possibly last time Saturday, March 27 on the 700 Nicollet Mall retailer's eighth-floor auditorium.

This year's show, "Garden of Make Believe," is based on 14 themes, from tropical palm trees to nighttime scenes. The show will also feature interactive activities for children -- including seeing a flower rise from an egg. Hilton McConnico was the creative force behind the show while David Beahm was the floral designer. The show will be open during store hours through April 10.

Marshall Field's owners put up the chain for sale March 11, so the future of the flower show is uncertain.
