Those concerned with sustainable economics and sharing their economic experiences will meet at Peavey Plaza 1 p.m.–4 p.m. Nov. 5 for an event called Financial Engagement.

The goal of Financial Engagement is to address economic questions in small group settings, such as how our economy works, the difference between credit unions and banks and the difference between income and wealth. People will be on hand to record what goes on in the groups.

The proceedings of the event will be compiled into a “publicly generated newspaper” to be distributed Nov. 26, or Black Friday, the biggest shopping day of the year.

The event is free and open to everyone. It is organized by A Public Thing, which organizes public meetings designed to tackle serious issues and then publishes documents about the meetings.

Works Progress, a public design studio and Good Work Group, a design consultancy, among others, support a Public Thing. For more information on Financial Engagement, go to facebook.com and search “financial engagement.”
