Until 5 p.m. today, Peavey Plaza will be home to the next generation of vending machines, thanks to “The Gratitude Tour” sponsored by the National Automatic Vending Merchandising Association. The tour features multiple advanced vending machines, including touchscreen Coke machines, a healthy and organic foods machine and even a cotton candy machine.

The Gratitude Tour is intended to thank customers of vending machines for their patronage. The core customer base in Generation Y, and those who visit will have a chance to win $50,000 in cash prizes via a Facebook contest. During the display, all vending machines are set to dispense items for free, and several booths are also passing out free samples.

Despite the free food, the machines themselves seemed to be the biggest attraction. The touchscreen Coke machine, for example, allows users to spin the bottle to see the nutritional information on the label. Another machine accepts cans for recycling and dispenses awards cards. A Seattle’s Best Coffee machine grinds beans for each cup, and the aforementioned cotton candy machine makes fresh cotton candy in one minute.

Head to Peavey Plaza by 5 p.m. to check out the Gratitude Tour.
