Downtown will host the second national Next Up Young Workers Summit this weekend. The event, which is hosted by the AFL-CIO, is designed to focus on how the current economic crisis is affecting workers under age 35.
The summit kicks off at 1 p.m. tomorrow at 1001 Marquette Ave. with a community service project, followed by a keynote address by Secretary of Labor Hilda Solis at 5 p.m. The summit continues with various sessions throughout the weekend and concludes at 9:45 a.m. Sunday with a plenary session with AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka, actor Lucas Neff from “Raising Hope” and actor RJ Mitte from “Breaking Bad.”
Thursday’s community service project will be organized in conjunction with Tubman, the local non-profit that serves more that 54,000 people in the Twin Cities.
