The local artist’s “Nightmare,” a barge-borne video projection of a galloping white horse, is set to cruise the Mississippi River just after dark tonight. It will set off from St. Paul’s Harriet Island at about 9:30 p.m. and head upriver to Minneapolis, where it will be visible from the river’s east bank.
The floating art project was scheduled to be included in Northern Spark, an all-night art festival that began June 4 and ran until early June 5, but never made it. In an e-mail, Stanislav wrote the project “was not able to run due to ill fate somewhat greater than a technical problem and slightly less than an act of God.”
Stanislav is an assistant professor of art at the University of Minnesota who splits her time between Minneapolis and New York City. She was a 2010 recipient of a McKnight Artists Fellowship for Visual Arts.
