NORTH LOOP — Local D’Lish, Ann Yin’s urban take on a cozy corner grocer, has launched a series of community meet-and-greet events for the North Loop, aiming to introduce neighbors to the wealth of small businesses in the area.

“Every single day I have people come in the store that are like, ‘I’ve walked by here over the last three years, and I didn’t even know you were here,’” said Yin. “And then I ask, ‘Have you been to North Loop Wine and Spirits yet?’ And they say, ‘Oh I didn’t even know we had a liquor store.’”

Area businesses recently banded together to form the North Loop Business Association, which launched in late January. Yin sees the meet-and-greets as piggybacking on the Association’s call for a more community-minded, neighborly partnership of small businesses.

Through April, representatives from places like Moose & Sadies, Toast Wine Bar and North Loop Wine and Spirits will attend the twice-a-month events at Local D’Lish, which will vary in theme and refreshments. Yin said she had invited Eric Dayton to send someone to discuss his proposed restaurant and lounge at 200 N. 1st St.

Dates for events are Feb. 10, 6–8 p.m.; Feb. 20, 2-4 p.m.; March 13, 2–4 p.m.; March 24, 6–8 p.m.; April 7, 6–8 p.m. and April 17, 2–4 p.m. Local D’Lish is located at 208 1st St. N.

This Saturday, Yin is also promoting a “Sweet Saturday” event, featuring 10 to 15 chocolatiers and artisans specializing in jewelry, cards and letter press, body care and candles.

“The neighborhood’s pretty full of people,” Yin said. “They just need to know all the businesses here.”
