Yet another Downtown parcel has been eyed for a condominium project.

St. Louis Park-based Steven Scott Management, Inc. has plans for a six-story, 116-unit condominium tower near the Hennepin Avenue United Methodist Church in Loring Park.

The developer has bought the church's parking lot at 317 Groveland Ave., said Scott Bader, principal of Steven Scott, one of the state's largest apartment management companies with 5,000 units.

Preliminary plans call for condos ranging from $190,000 to $600,000 at the Loring Park building. Few other project details have been finalized at this point, Scott said.

"It's really early. We're just getting going," he said.

The developer pitched plans to the neighborhood group, Citizens for a Loring Park Community, at a Jan. 26 meeting. After the neighborhood consults with the developer, the project will go before city officials for further review.

"Loring Park is a great neighborhood, so to have an opportunity to develop in this neighborhood is very exciting; so we think it will be an excellent project," Bader said.
