Outside Magazine ranked Minneapolis eighth on its annual list of “America’s Best Cities” in its August issue.

The magazine cited Minneapolis’ “affordability, education, and its diversified economy” in its decision. The magazine’s editors ranked Minneapolis behind Portland, Ore., (number 7) but ahead of Cincinnati (number 9) among the nation’s 100 most-populous cities.

Colorado Springs, Colo., topped the list, which ranked cities based on factors like cost of living, nightlife and the percentage of the population with college degrees. Outside Magazine, which bills itself on its website as “America's leading active-lifestyle and adventure-travel magazine,” also weighed each city’s proximity to outdoor activities like skiing and biking.

The “America’s Best Cities” list can be found on the Outside Magazine website.
