The annual event brings together citizens and police in support of efforts to combat crime and illegal drugs. The 26th Annual National Night Out will be celebrated Aug. 4 with block parties, barbeques and other community gatherings across the U.S.
The city waives street-closure fees for National Night Out community gatherings to all groups that apply by Tuesday, July 21. Applicants must have permission from 75 percent of neighbors when they apply for a street closure.
National Night Out block party organizers each receive a Mystery Point Pass for Nickelodeon Universe at the Mall of America and vouchers for two tickets to a Minnesota Twins game that may be used for door prizes at their neighborhood gatherings. Those who register their block’s event by July 14 will be entered into a drawing for additional prizes provided by Twin Cities businesses.
To register your event, visit the National Night Out section of the city’s website (www.ci.minneapolis.mn.us/nno) or call 311.
