Construction of the Interstate 35W bridge over the Mississippi River will reach another milestone this week with nearly all of the bridge columns expected to reach their full height, the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) reported.

The columns, which rise from three piers, will support the deck of the completed bridge. The columns from pier 2 and pier 3, on the east bank, were expected to reach their full height of 70 feet by the end of this week, with construction across the river on pier 4 close behind.

Weekly updates on bridge construction are available at the MnDOT website.
