Another food truck has made the leap to the skyway.
Hot Indian owner Amol Dixit recently opened his second brick-and-mortar location, this time in the skyway of the former TCF Tower.
The restaurant, which has a stand in Midtown Global Market and another on the way in the Mall of America, is known for its “Indurrito,” an Indian-style burrito made with roti, an Indian flatbread.
Hot Indian’s setup is similar to Chipotle with options for burritos, salads, rice bowls or roti tacos filled with ($9-$11) protein choices like chicken tikka, pork vindaloo, spinach paneer, vegan channa and more. Then diners choose a topping like mango chutney, tomato-garlic sauce or traditional tamarind chutney. Each plate is topped with Hot Indian’s slaw of mangoes, apples, carrots, cabbage and coconut milk.
Beyond entrees, Hot Indian serves Indi frites, or its take on French fries, as well as samosas and fried chickpeas. Chai drinks, either masala or Baba’s Chai, are available for $3.50, and Indian sodas, either cola or citrus flavors, are $2.
The skyway restaurant opened in late May at 121 S. 8th St. It is open 11 a.m.–2:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Hot Indian takes takeout orders at online hotindianfoods.com.
