The downtown art gallery will host at least two more shows.
Instinct Art Gallery is reopening on Nicollet Mall for at least two more exhibits.
The downtown Minneapolis art gallery closed in March due to a lack of sales, but John Schuerman, Instinct’s director, said it will get another chance with a new show opening next month.
The reopening show, “Transplant Eyes,” includes work from many artists born outside the United States that engage with themes of identity, stereotypes and acceptance. The show, curated by Schuerman and Katayoun Amjadi, opens Sept. 10 and runs through Oct. 22.
“Transplant Eyes” and another show, “Verity in Vision,” will run until the holiday season. As for what’s next for Instinct, Schuerman said he isn’t sure.
“Maybe more at Instinct, or maybe more at other locations,” he said in an email.
The gallery first opened in September 2013.
During shows, Instinct, located at 940 Nicollet Mall, is open Wednesday through Saturday from noon–5 p.m. The gallery will have an opening reception for “Transplant Eyes” on Sept. 10 from 6 p.m.–8 p.m.
