The Dayton brothers’ North Loop brand Askov Finlayson will open a new flagship store in August, bringing eyewear brand Warby Parker’s first showroom to the state.
The new space at 204 N. 1st St. is adjacent to the apparel store’s current location, but twice its size. Co-founders Andrew and Eric Dayton will also bring “Warby Parker at Askov Finlayson,” a 250-square-foot showroom featuring sunwear and frames.
“We’re excited to see how Askov Finlayson’s momentum has built over the past few years, and it will be wonderful to have a larger space where our customers can come and really experience the brand,” Eric Dayton said in a statement. “This flagship store will serve as an important foundation as we continue to grow. And to partner with Warby Parker, and help bring a brand we greatly admire to Minneapolis, only adds to the thrill of this big step forward.”
The showroom will be the eyewear company’s first retail presence in the state, and one of just a few nationwide.
“Minneapolis is quickly establishing itself as a hotbed of design intelligence, and Askov Finlayson is a prime example,” said Neil Blumenthal, Warby Parker co-founder and co-CEO. “We couldn’t think of a friendlier partner for putting down roots in Minneapolis.”
The store, designed by Minneapolis-based architect James Dayton Design, will also feature the debut of an exclusive collection of custom bags and small accessories from Duluth, Minn.-based Frost River.
The store will open in early August.
