FinnStyle to close Warehouse District store, rebrand in Golden Valley

Finland-focused retailer FinnStyle announced Tuesday it will close its Warehouse District retail store Feb. 16 and rebrand as AlwaysMod.

FinnStyle will move its brick-and-mortar store to Golden Valley and re-launch under the new name in mid-March, which will refocus goods beyond Finland. FinnStyle is one of the country’s largest online retailers of Finnish design goods.

“After 13 years of growing and nurturing FinnStyle, we’ve decided it’s time to widen our customer reach and product selection,” said Ben Horn, owner of Our World Shops, Inc., FinnStyle’s parent company, in a statement.

AlwaysMod will sell home goods, dinnerware and furniture, in addition to expanding the retailer’s wares to include brands like Alessi, Design Ideas, Finell, Kikkerland and MoMA. The new, 4,000-square-foot store will be located at 905 Decatur Ave. N. and double the size of retailer’s current space. It will have more than 3,000 products on display and include a demonstration kitchen.

Horn’s Our World Shops also owns and operates six different websites. AlwaysMod.com launched in 2008 with a major expansion last year. FinnStyle.com will remain unchanged, according to a release.

“The name AlwaysMod represents timelessness, functionality and form, which are all characteristics of the products shoppers will find at our store and website. We’re very excited to introduce the Twin Cities to our curated selection of modern goods in a brand new setting,” Horn said.

The Journal reported that FinnStyle opened its store on Glenwood Avenue in 2010, outgrowing its former Gaviidae Common location.

FinnStyle’s retail store at 160 Glenwood Ave is hosting a moving sale from Tuesday, Feb.10 through Monday, Feb. 16.
