The highly anticipated design for the new Vikings stadium will be revealed to the public Monday, May 13, 6:30 p.m., at the Guthrie Theater (Wurtele Thrust Stage).

The Minnesota Sports Facilities Authority (MSFA) has also prepared a draft Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) on the project. It's online at msfa.com and available for review at the Minneapolis Central Library, 300 Nicollet Mall.

A public meeting is planned for May 22 in Halsey Hall at the Metrodome for people interested in learning more about the EIS.

The new Vikings stadium, which will go up just east of the Metrodome, is scheduled to open for the 2016 football season.

It will have seating for 65,000 people, but will be able to accommodate up to 72,000 people during special events.

Construction is  scheduled to start later this year.
