Smack Shack is applying to upgrade its liquor license to allow for live music.

Owner Josh Thoma said he is planning on hosting small to mid-size bands that play New Orleans-style jazz, reggae, and funk, along with occasional guest DJs for ambient background music.

Smack Shack’s application to upgrade from a Class E liquor license to a Class B liquor license was approved by the City Council Community Development and Regulatory Services Committee on March 18 and will be up for final approval March 21.
